PAMAS particle counters

Particle measuring technology is used to control cleanliness of liquids and to identify quality deficiencies and excessive wear in order to avoid eventual costly machine failures. PAMAS particle counters measure solid particulate contamination of liquids and control the efficiency of filters and the cleanliness of liquids.

Particles circulating at high speed and pressure in the liquids of turbines, power plants, gearboxes and offshore applications are capable of damaging mechanical parts of the system.

Particles affect both the quality of liquids (e.g. contaminants in pharmaceutical solutions, drinking water or process water), and also the connected components and machines (e.g. in aviation and hydraulics in general).

Requirements and Applications

  • Purity of components: Particle counters are indispensable for ensuring the cleanliness of hydraulic components such as pumps, valves, accumulators, actuators and hoses, which are used in subsea oil and gas extraction.
  • Injection fluids:The purity of water and chemicals injected into boreholes is crucial for smooth operation and preventing damage/blockage to the boreholes.
  • Water-glycol fluids:Particle counters also play an important role in water-glycol-based hydraulic fluids and their storage and transport containers (totes/IBCs).

Problem Solutions through Particle Counters

  • Demanding fluids:PAMAS Particle counters are capable of measuring the purity of technically demanding fluids such as water-glycols, aggressive chemicals (scale/corrosion/wax inhibitors), and saltwater.
  • Avoidance of failures:Accurate measurement of particulate contamination can prevent component damage, asset failures and avoid environmental disasters.
  • Compliance with cleanliness specifications:Particle counters assist in meeting the purity requirements for subsea components and fluids stipulated by the API, end customers and drilling rig operators.

Particle counters designed specifically for Aerospace applications are able to measure kerosene in compliance with the IP 577 and DEF STAN 91-91 standards or hardly inflammable hydraulic fluids including Skydrol®.

Viscosity, particle concentration and the requested measuring range are the key issues when selecting the ideal particle sensor for chemical fluids.

The quality of potable water, process water and waste water can be analysed and determined with the aid of a particle counter. The instrument also detects floc sizes in water treatment plants.

Due to flexible options and various additional features, PAMAS particle counters are tried and tested for the use in the military sector. The user gets a particle analysing system that perfectly fits to his specific application.

Particle Counter for Liquids in Pharmaceutical Production

Purity Controls: Essential for the Highest Quality Standards

Pharmaceutical production is a critical industry. Where purity controls are of essential importance, particle counters play a vital role. Whether in the production of infusion solutions, protein solutions or eye drops, or in ensuring the component purity of medical devices – a reliable particle counter is indispensable.

Why is this and what makes PAMAS, as the manufacturing provider, so special?

Diverse Applications and Challenges

When installing particle counters in the pharmaceutical industry, a lot of criteria need to be adhered to:

  • Compliance with pharmacopoeia regulations:Regulations such as USP <788>, USP <787>, USP <789>, Ph. Eur. 2.9.19 demand precise monitoring and documentation of particle number and size in various substances.
  • Ensuring medication purity:A central requirement in your industry is ensuring the purity of all medications, to guarantee their effectiveness and safety for patients.
  • Avoidance of infections and inflammations through µm particles:Even the smallest particles can pose serious health risks, so it is crucial to monitor and minimise their presence.
  • Avoidance of time-consuming microscopic particle measurement:Particularly with volatile and viscous samples, particle counters provide significant time savings over traditional microscopic measurement methods.

Key Questions
